CVServicesInfrastructure architecture

IT infrastructure architect for cloud and your own servers

I design and modernise IT infrastructure, from the assessment through the target architecture to a migration without downtime. For companies, practice groups and software teams that want to understand their infrastructure and develop it in a planned way.

Where companies often stand

What I do

How I approach a migration

I plan a migration in small steps, each of which can be undone on its own. Services that little depends on move first, so the approach is proven before the important systems are due. Old and new environments run side by side for a while, and the switch only happens once the new one has shown it can carry the load. We schedule the switches for times when your operations barely notice them.

For each step it is settled beforehand how we will know it worked and what happens if it did not. That goes into the migration plan, so it does not stay in individual heads. At the end the old environment is switched off, and its costs go with it.

How it works

  1. First callfreeBy video or phone. You describe the situation, I ask questions.
  2. AssessmentSystems, dependencies and risks, written down.
  3. PlanTarget picture and steps, with priorities and effort.
  4. ImplementationStep by step, without disrupting daily operations.
  5. Operations and handoverDocumented, tested and handed over to you or your team.

Why work with me

I have worked in software since 2004. Today I lead infrastructure and DevOps at hessnatur; before that I was head of platform infrastructure at Calida Group Digital. So I know both sides, the code that gets shipped and the platform it runs on.

For Nun Pirat, an app for learning Arabic, I built the whole platform, with Kubernetes, shared pipeline templates and monitoring across everything. The case study shows how it is put together. From the first assessment to the handover you deal with the same person. More about me in the CV.

Frequently asked questions

Cloud or our own servers?

It depends on the data you process, how even the load is, what your team can run and what it may cost. A mix often makes sense. I write the decision down with its reasons so it can still be followed later.

How long does an assessment take?

That depends on the size of the setup. In the first call we estimate the scope together, and then you get a clear proposal.

Do you work with our IT provider?

Yes. I plan the architecture and the migration, and your provider can keep looking after daily operations. What matters is that everyone works from the same documentation.

What do we have in hand at the end?

An assessment, the target architecture, the migration plan and an operations handbook. If I also implement it, you get the infrastructure as code, with which every environment can be rebuilt.

Where will our data be?

When personal or health data is involved, I plan hosting in the EU, preferably in Germany, and build in encryption and data processing agreements from the start.
